Wanting More Time to Waste

Time is a funny thing.  There never seems to be enough of it when you know you have things to do that are undesirable, and there seems to be too much of it when you are waiting for something to happen.

Right now I am stuck between wanting to be done being pregnant and wanting to keep this baby in forever because I’m not ready to add anything else to the orchestrated chaos that is our life.

I know that I’ll eventually be ready…probably before the 5-6 weeks are up, but right now all I see is an endless pile of tasks that need to be done and one lazy mama with no energy to do it.  So, like the dedicated procrastinator I am, instead of using these rare few minutes of quiet to start sorting through baby clothes, clean or prepare anything, I’m going to sit on my butt and waste time composing a list of all the things I would do if I had more time.

Contradictory, I know.

Enjoy!

10. I would actually “do” my hair as opposed to wrangle it into a ponytail everyday.

9.  I would organize my closet and get rid of the clothes I wore in junior high.  They weren’t cute then and aren’t cute now!

8.  I would write in baby books in a timely manner instead of going back and frantically trying to remember/fabricate milestones to ease my guilt.

7.  I would take time to “be in the moment” instead of always thinking ahead.

6.  I would write more whether it is blogging or more substantive work like the book
I always talk about writing…

5.  I would read more.

4.  I would make an effort to do things that don’t involve my kids.

3.  I would focus on maintaining or creating friendships.

2.  I would do something about all the messes I frequently complain about rather than

just letting them fester.

And...drum roll please...

      1.  I would sleep!

In all this is not a very exciting list.  Maybe I don’t need more time after all!  Maybe I just need something a little more interesting to do with my days to keep me motivated?  Or, maybe I just need to be a little more creative about what I’d want to do.
